The European Union has swiftly arranged high-level negotiations with the United States following President Donald Trump’s decision to postpone proposed 50% tariffs on EU goods. The delay, extending the deadline from June 1 to July 9, provides a critical window for diplomacy amid escalating trade tensions.

US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent accused the EU of avoiding good-faith negotiations, prompting Brussels to recalibrate its stance. Meanwhile, Washington edges closer to a parallel trade agreement with India that WOULD avert tariffs of up to 26%.
